What I observed is that a Tommy Hilfiger Medium top comes bulging down the shoulders than Zara and GAP medium tops, which fit perfectly. As for bottoms , they can be tight on an L person at the hips (both), and the legs portion below the knee (narrow jeans). Relationship between Top and Bottom for a pear-shaped person L top : XL bottom Hence GAP dress fits me perfectly due to the upper L and lower XL kind of proportion for my body type.
